Zizzi Basingstoke had a refurbishment and I was commissioned to paint on the walls. It took me 6 days to paint a 7m brick wall, a room of trees and 2 other walls. My artwork was inspired by the history of Basingstoke and featured market images from cobblers, bakers, fruit and veg stalls and the livestock trade. The designs used highlight the importance of Basingstoke’s market town history and how it has shaped the present area.

Earlier this year Zizzi’s ran a competition to re-design their menus. The brief was ‘Deliciously Stylish’ and you had to create an illustration which was inspired by these words. I was really happy to be one of the competition winners along with 2 other artists. My artwork was printed on recycled card and was distributed to all the Zizzi restaurants throughout the UK.

Zizzi restaurant started the ‘Fresh Talent’ project a couple of years ago where they commission artists to show their skills and create artwork inside their restaurants. I was commissioned along with 4 other artists, Camille Rousseau, Luke Fenech, Abilgale Borge and Laura Callaghan, to paint murals on the walls of the restaurant. I had to paint on 8 columns which were scattered around the restaurant.

I was commissioned by Sol beer to create a mural for the mexican bar El Camion in Soho, London. It was 3m x 1.5m and took me just under 3 days to paint.

In January, Factory commissioned me to paint on the stairwells from the entrance on the ground floor up to their reception. They then contacted me again to come back and paint the rest of their stairwells with my artwork on another 3 floors. Altogether I painted on 45 metres of wall space. Last week I was commissioned by the Doodle Bar at OMDUK to come in and paint artwork for there inspiration wall. They had a white piece of perspex which was mounted on the wall and wanted me to paint my artwork around it. The perspex is like their white board and they are mounting lots of different artwork and images around it. I had lots of fun with the strong white paint, and was lovely to see some old faces. Thanks to Neeta who took some photographs on the day.

I created a whole set of letters for Type It: The international contest for typography creation. It took me much longer than I thought but I got there in the end. I really enjoyed it and I’m going to be trying out more typography soon. You can see the full set by clicking here.

Sidekick Books commissioned me to create black and white illustrations for 2 of their poetry books: Birdbook:Towns, Parks, Gardens & Woodland and Pocket Spell Book. Birdbook is a poetry book celebrating British birds, with over 50 poems and illustrations. I was commissioned to illustrate the Nightingale, Hawfinch, Siskin, Mistle Thrush and Woodcock. I also created the cover art for Pocket Spell Book and an black and white illustration.

Saturday 17th April… Record Store Day at Rough Trade, London. Last Thursday I heard Wild Beasts were going to be playing at Rough Trade and I’m a big fan so I was very excited and headed down there.
